Does loperamide have any side effects?

Loperamide may cause side effects ranging from mild to severe. Mild side effects include: fatigue, constipation, stomach upset, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Severe symptoms include: worsening diarrhea, stomach pain or bloating, watery or bloody diarrhea. If you experience any of these severe symptoms or if your milder symptoms worsen, you should contact your doctor right away. A serious allergic reaction may also occur. If you have any of the following symptoms, seek immediate medical care: swelling of the mouth, lips or face, hives, skin rash or difficulty breathing.
