What should I avoid while taking glipizide?

Glipizide can sometimes cause hypoglycemia by lowering blood sugar levels too much. To reduce your risk of developing hypoglycemia, avoid drinking alcohol and skipping meals. Until you know how you react to glipizide, you should not drive or operate any heavy machinery. Glipizide can also make you more susceptible to sunburn, so be sure to take the necessary precautions when going outside.

Glipizide interacts with a variety of medications and foods. Medications that could interact adversely with glipizide include certain dezamethasone, antibiotics, prednisone, probenecid, estrogens, diuretics, isoniazid, blood pressure and heart disease medications, MAO inhibitors, blood thinners, oral contraceptive, niacin, phenytoin, and certain vitamins.
