What should I avoid while taking Avandia?

You should avoid drinking alcoholic beverages while taking Avandia. Alcohol lowers your blood sugar and can increase your risk of hypoglycemia while taking other medications that lower your blood sugar. You should also avoid breast-feeding and becoming pregnant, since the effects of Avandia on breast milk and pregnancy are not known. Also avoid taking nitrates or insulin while taking Avandia.
