Glyset (miglitol) is a type of medication for treating diabetes that's known as an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor. It works by slowing the breakdown and absorption of table sugar and other sugars in the small intestine. As a result, blood sugar levels go down. Glyset does not affect insulin levels. Glyset comes in tablet form and is usually taken three times a day with the first bite of each main meal.
