What are the side effects of Levemir?

The most common side effect of Levemir (insulin detemir) is hypoglycemia (low blood glucose).  Symptoms include nervousness, dizziness, hunger, weakness, sweaty, headache, and blurred vision.  Do not take Levemir if you are experiencing low blood sugar. Check your blood glucose often and inform your doctor if the levels are too high or too low. Other possible side effects of Levemir include irritation or swelling at the injection site and allergic reactions to insulin. Get emergency help if you develop a rash, have a rapid heartbeat, experience difficulty breathing, begin sweating, or feel faint. These may be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
