What should I know about Onglyza before taking it?

Before taking Onglyza (saxagliptin), discuss all of your medications, diet, and exercise habits with your doctor, as these can affect blood sugar levels in your body. Drinking alcohol can lower your blood sugar drastically, so if you have a drink, be aware of the symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Hypoglycemia can usually be treated and reversed before serious symptoms develop, such as unconsciousness.
