While taking Onglyza (saxagliptin), you should avoid drinking alcohol without first discussing it with your doctor. You should talk with your doctor before taking certain medications, such as antibiotics, antifungals, protease inhibitors, and nefazodone, as these medications increase the amount of Onglyza in your blood. You also will need dosage adjustments when taking Onglyza with sulfonylurea, to avoid the possibility of low blood sugar.
