What should I know before taking pramlintide acetate injection?

Pramlintide acetate injection is used in conjunction with insulin, but you should adjust your insulin dose and food intake as necessary to avoid blood sugar levels that are too high or too low. Always carry candy, juice, glucose tablets or other sugars that act quickly to avert hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) episodes. Although taken at the same time as insulin, the two medications should not be mixed. Pramlintide acetate may be have a variety of side effects and may be affected by other medical conditions.
