How soon after starting glyburide and metformin will my symptoms improve?

The diabetes combination drug glyburide and metformin (brand name: Glucovance) actually starts working within hours to bring your blood sugar under control, but because diabetes often has few or no symptoms, you may not feel any different. However, if you are experiencing symptoms of uncontrolled high blood sugar -- such as thirst, hunger, frequent urination, fatigue, weight loss, blurred vision, and sores that do not heal -- they should go away once your dose of the drug is high enough. (Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose to make sure your blood sugar levels don't fall too quickly and to minimize side effects.) Some of these symptoms will reverse almost immediately. Others, like sores and weight loss, will take a little time to improve.
