How should I take Levemir?

Levemir (insulin detemir) should be injected subcutaneously (under the skin) in the upper arm, upper leg, or abdomen. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor and never mix it with other insulin or use it in an insulin pump. If you use Levemir once a day, inject it at dinnertime or at bedtime. If you use Levemir twice a day, inject the evening dose 12 hours after your morning injection. Rotate the injection sites and use disposable needles only once. Be sure to carefully dispose used needles in a sharps container. Do not share vials, cartridges or needles with others to prevent the spread of HIV and other diseases.
