How does Avandaryl interact with other medications or food?

When taking Avandaryl, you should avoid taking alcoholic beverages and certain herbal supplements. Avandaryl taken with oral contraceptives or hormone therapy can cause blood sugar to climb too high. Increased blood sugar can result if Avandaryl is taken with corticosteroids, diuretics (especially thiazide), isonazid, nicotinic acid sympathomimetics, phenothiazines, phenytoin, and thyroid products. When taken with hypoglycemic drugs and oral miconazole, blood sugar can drop too low. Rifampin, and other drugs that work through the CYP2C8 system may change the way Avandaryl works in your body.
