When can I stop taking clomipramine?

Clomipramine is most often prescribed to treat the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which is a chronic, long-term illness. While taking clomipramine, you may experience periods where your OCD symptoms are mild and practically unnoticeable. However, you still need to take clomipramine in order to keep your OCD under control.

Stopping clomipramine abruptly can cause symptoms such as dizziness, nausea and sleep problems. If your doctor decides you should stop taking clomipramine, he or she will  gradually taper your dose.
