Paroxetine CR, sold under the brand name Paxil CR, is used to treat major depression disorders. It is classified as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). This drug affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced, causing symptoms of depression. It is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
