What should I avoid while taking nortriptyline?

Follow these precautions while taking nortriptyline:
  • Do not expose yourself to too much sunlight. Nortriptyline can make your skin overly sensitive to the sun. If you must spend time in the sun, make sure to wear sunglasses, sunscreen, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants.
  • Do not use alcohol, sleeping pills, or other medications that have fatigue or sleepiness as a side effect. Taking these substances with nortriptyline can cause complications and greater fatigue.
  • Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice.
  • Do not exceed your dosage or take the drug in any way other than as prescribed by your doctor.
