If you're taking the antidepressant desvenlafaxine (Pristiq), you may be at an increased risk of having suicidal thoughts -- especially when you first start treatment, if you increase your dose or if you have a family history of bipolar disorder. Call you doctor right away if you start thinking about suicide, or if you have any of these other potential side effects of desvenlafaxine:
  • worsening depression
  • panic attacks
  • worry
  • restlessness
  • agitation
