Are there any risks in taking mirtazapine?

Mirtazapine is associated with increased risk for suicidal thoughts in young patients, up to the mid-20s. Contact your doctor if you have new or worsened symptoms related to your depression. Mirtazapine may also cause dizziness, which can be worsened by alcohol and other medications. Take care when driving or doing other dangerous tasks when taking mirtazapine. The medication can complicate certain health conditions, particularly heart disease, liver disease, seizures and phenylketonuria (PKU). This drug may affect the babies of pregnant or breastfeeding women.
