What should I know about levetiracetam before taking it?

Levetiracetam can have adverse effects. It may make you drowsy or dizzy. You should not drive or operate machinery until you know what effect levetiracetam will have on you. Levetiracetam has also been known to cause changes in mental health, including suicidal thoughts, anxiety, hallucinations, anger, hostility, irritability, apathy, and aggressive behavior. It is crucial that you and those around you pay attention to your behavior and alert your doctor immediately if you show any of these symptoms. Do not suddenly stop taking levetiracetam, as this can cause seizures.
