What is primidone?

Primidone, sold under the brand name Mysoline, is an anticonvulsant that decreases nerve impulses in the brain tissue to stop seizures. Primidone may be taken on its own or in combination with other medications. Primidone may also be used to treat essential tremor, a trembling that can occur in the hands, head, voice, and arms of older adults. The medication is available as both a tablet and liquid suspension.
