Ethosuximide oral solution (brand name Zarontin) is an anti-epileptic drug that works to reduce absence (petit mal) seizures caused by abnormal electric activity in the brain. An anticonvulsant succimide, ethosuximide suppresses the motor cortex and increases the central nervous system's threshold to convulsive stimuli. As a result, lapses of consciousness in which a person becomes unaware of one's surroundings will decrease.
