Is Celontin safe for pregnant or breast-feeding women?

It's unknown whether Celontin affects a developing fetus, but there may be an increased risk of certain birth defects. Because of this, you should talk to your doctor if you plan on becoming or become pregnant while taking Celontin. It's also unknown whether Celontin is passed through breast milk to a nursing infant or affects production of breast milk. Because so much is unknown about Celontin's affects on pregnancy and breast-feeding, it's suggested that women who become pregnant while taking Celontin join the North American Antiepileptic Drug (NAAED) Pregnancy Registry. This registry helps collect information about the pregnancies of women taking antiepileptic drugs such as Celontin to help determine whether these drugs may affect the fetus.
