Who may develop bleeding problems when taking Fragmin?

Fragmin may cause blood clots around the brain and spinal cord. Some prescription and over-the-counter medicines may increase your risk. Aspirin can actually increase bleeding risks. Tell your doctor all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you are taking. People with the following conditions might develop bleeding problems if they take Fragmin:
  • Inherited bleeding disorders
  • Bleeding problems caused by disease
  • Hemorrhagic stroke (blood vessels in the brain leak or rupture)
  • Bacterial endocarditis (infection of the heart’s lining)
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • Stomach or intestinal bleeding or ulcer
  • Recent brain, spine or eye surgery
