What is Fragmin?

Fragmin is a prescription drug to help prevent dangerous blood clots after surgery on your abdomen (stomach) or any other major surgery. These blood clots must be prevented immediately because they can travel to your lungs, lodge themselves in your blood vessels and lead to major complications such as pulmonary embolism. Fragmin is often used together with aspirin to help prevent blood clots in people who have a heart condition known as unstable angina. Fragmin is also known as the generic name dalteparin.
