What are the blood tests my husband has while he's taking warfarin?

While your husband is taking the blood-thinner warfarin, he has blood tests called protime (PT) tests or International Normalized Ratio (INR) tests, or PT/INR for short. PT/INR tests check to see if his dose of warfarin needs to be adjusted. His doctor and other healthcare providers will decide what range of PT/INR numbers are best for him. His dose of warfarin will be adjusted from time to time to keep his PT/INR within that range.
