Should my husband avoid playing sports now that he's taking warfarin?

Your husband should avoid playing contact sports (such as football, hockey or wrestling) while taking warfarin. He should avoid any other sports (such as skiing, rollerblading and rock climbing) in which there's a great danger he could fall or get hurt. He is at increased risk for bleeding while he's taking warfarin, and this risk is higher when he plays certain sports. If he does get hurt (especially if he hits his head) playing sports, he should call his doctor right away.
