Heparin may interact with other medications and increase the risk for side effects, so tell your doctor about any medications or supplements you are taking before you use heparin. This is especially important if you are taking the following: other anticoagulants ("blood thinners"); salicylates like aspirin; nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs); antihistamines or other allergy medications; sleep medications; any medications or products containing nicotine; mifepristone; digoxin; hydroxychloroquine; doxycycline; tetracycline.
