Who should not take nitrofurantoin?

Nitrofurantoin should not be taken by people who are allergic to this medication, who have liver problems, who suffer from kidney disorders, or have trouble urinating. Women who are 38 to 42 weeks pregnant, in labor, or about to go into labor should not take nitrofurantoin. Infants under a month old also should not take nitrofurantoin.
