What is colistimethate injection?

Colistimethate injection is an antibiotic used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It kills bacteria by disrupting the bacterial cell membrane. Colistimethate injection can be found under the brand names Coly-Mycin M. It is an antibiotic and will not work for viral infections such as a cold and the flu.
