How does zileuton interact with other medications or food?

You should be able to keep eating what you normally eat. Avoid alcohol, as it could increase the risks for liver problems or mood changes. Zileuton can increase the side effects of some drugs, including beta-blockers, theophylline, calcium channel blockers, pimozide, antihistamines and cyclosporine. Likewise, azole antifungals increase the side effects of zileuton. Anticoagulants may make it more likely for you to have unexpected or unusual bleeding while taking zileuton. Always talk to your doctor about your medical history and current medications and supplements before beginning a new prescription.
