Who should take Advair Diskus?

Advair Diskus is for anyone over the age of 12 who has severe uncontrolled asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It contains two drugs that can help bring severe breathing problems under control. It contains fluticasone, a steroid, which reduces swelling. The other drug, salmeterol, is a bronchodilator that relaxes the airways.  Once you are breathing more easily and suffering fewer attacks, your doctor may decide to take you off Advair and put you on a different drug.
