What are the side effects of formoterol?

Formoterol can cause many side effects, some more serious than others. Call your doctor right away if you have any of these effects:
  • signs of allergy, such as hives, rash or swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles or lower legs
  • difficulty swallowing or breathing, hoarseness
  • chest pain, fast, pounding or irregular heartbeat
  • lightheadedness, fainting
Make an appointment to talk to your doctor if any of the following effects continues for a long period of time:
  • stuffy or runny nose
  • sore throat, dry mouth
  • nervousness, dizziness
  • back pain, muscle cramps, headaches
  • nausea, heartburn, stomach pain
  • uncontrollable shaking of a part of the body
  • extreme tiredness
  • difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
