What is Spiriva (tiotropium)?

Tiotropium, also known by the brand name Spiriva, is an inhalant that prevents your bronchial tubes from becoming constricted. Bronchial tubes are the air passageways in your lungs that are affected by such conditions as emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or bronchitis. If used regularly, Spiriva HandiHaler can prevent future attacks of bronchospasms that are associated with these conditions.
