What are the more common side effects of tiotropium?

The more common side effects of tiotropium (Spiriva HandiHaler) include:
  • runny nose, nosebleed or sneezing
  • vomiting, indigestion or stomach pain
  • dry mouth or painful white patches in the mouth
  • constipation
  • muscle pain
If any of these side effects bother you or don't go away, call your doctor. Call your doctor right away if you experience these more serious side effects:
  • headaches
  • eye pain or blurred vision
  • red eyes
  • seeing colored images or halos around lights
  • hives or skin rash
  • chest pain or fast heartbeat
Do not stop taking tiotropium without talking to your doctor first.
