How is omalizumab used to treat nasal allergies?

Donna Hill Howes, RN
Family Practitioner

Omalizumab (Xolair) blocks the body's immune system reaction to common airborne allergens. Although omalizumab is used to treat nasal allergies, it is FDA-approved only for treating asthma. It is usually reserved for people whose symptoms have not improved using other allergy medications. Omalizumab is given every 2 or 4 weeks as an injection.
