Does Foradil Certihaler interact with other medications or food?

Prior to using Foradil (formoterol), tell your doctor if you take any of the following medications that may interact with Foradil: catechol-o-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors (such as entacapone), long-acting beta-agonists (such as salmeterol), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs, such as phenelzine) or tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline), beta-blockers such as acebutolol (Sectral), atenolol (Tenormin), betaxolol (Kerlone), bisoprolol (Zebeta), carteolol (Cartrol), carvedilol (Coreg), esmolol (Brevibloc), labetalol (Normodyne, Trandate), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol), nadolol (Corgard), penbutolol (Levatol), pindolol (Visken), propranolol (Inderal, InnoPran), sotalol (Betapace) or timolol (Blocadren), corticosteroids, such as prednisone, or xanthines, such as theophylline, heart rhythm medicines, such as amiodarone (Cordarone, Pacerone), dofetilide (Tikosyn), disopyramide (Norpace), procainamide (Procan), quinidine (Cardioquin, Quinaglute) or sotalol (Betapace), droperidol (Inapsine), caffeine, diet pills, cold medicine or stimulants, medicines to treat psychiatric disorder, such as pimozide (Orap), haloperidol (Haldol) or thioridazine (Mellaril), methadone (Methadose), pentamidine (NebuPent, Pentam), antibiotics such as azithromycin (Zithromax), clarithromycin (Biaxin), dirithromycin (Dynabac), erythromycin (E-Mycin, E.E.S., Erythrocin, Ery-Tab) or telithromycin (Ketek), diuretics, such as bumetanide (Bumex), chlorthalidone (Hygroton), ethacrynic acid (Edecrin), furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), indapamide (Lozol), metolazone (Zarxolyn) or torsemide (Demadex).

The term "Certihaler" refers to the patented device used to aerosolize Foradil for inhalation; however, the Certihaler has been discontinued and replaced by the Aerolizer.
