Can Brovana interact with other medications or foods?

Brovana (arformoterol), a medication prescribed to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, may interact with other drugs. Medications that can interact with Brovana include:
  • other COPD medicines, especially other long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) drugs including salmeterol, formoterol or bambuterol
  • asthma medicines including theophylline, dyphylline or aminophylline
  • oral steroids including dexamethasone, prednisolone or prednisone
  • drugs used to treat depression including fluoxetine, nortriptyline, protriptyline, amitriptyline, amoxapine, trimipramine, clomipramine, desipramine, imipramine, doxepin or MAO inhibitors such as phenelzine, isocarboxazid, tranylcyproamine or selegiline
  • drugs that treat other mental illness including pimozide, haloperidol or thioridazine
  • antibiotics including erythromycin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, sparfloxacin
  • the heart drugs amiodarone, procainamide, quinidine, dofetilide or disopyramide
  • beta-blocker medications such as atenolol, propranolol, nadolol, metoprolol, labetalol and sotalol
  • diet pills
  • diuretics such as furosemide, torsemide or hydrochlorothiazide
  • drugs to treat cancer including arsenic trioxide
Before you start taking Brovana, give your doctor a complete list of all medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs and supplements.
