How should I use azelaic acid topical?

Azelaic acid is applied as a gel or cream rubbed into the face. Wash your face and dry it before applying the medication, then gently rub a thin film of the azelaic acid cream or gel over the area you wish to treat. Wash your hands as soon as you're done using the cream or gel. You should leave the treated area exposed to the air and uncovered by bandages or gauze unless your doctor tells you otherwise. You should go through the whole treatment course of azelaic acid cream or gel, even if your condition improves.
