Most people will not have any problems, but you will be more at risk for kidney toxicity while using streptomycin if you are also taking cyclosporine, vancomycin, methoxyflurane, cephalosporins, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and nitrosoureas. People with pre-existing kidney problems may be at greater risk for serious toxic nerve reactions and should use streptomycin only under a doctor's supervision and with rescue equipment available. Kidney and blood monitoring is strongly advised in these cases.
