Who should take Aralen?

Aralen (chloroquine) is intended for people who are diagnosed with and who need to prevent infection with malaria. Anyone visiting a country where malaria is present should get preventative medication. The drug may also be used to treat infections caused by another microbe called an amoeba.

Doctors are cautious about giving Aralen to pregnant women or nursing mothers. In these cases, there is a danger to the unborn baby or nursing baby.
