What is Rifadin?

Rifadin (rifampin) is a brand name prescription antibiotic. The generic version of Rifadin is rifampin. Rifadin works by preventing the spread of bacteria in your body and is used to treat and prevent tuberculosis. Rifadin can also get rid of bacteria in your throat and nose that can cause meningitis, which is why it is used to prevent its spread to other people. However, Rifadin does not treat infections caused by meningitis bacteria. Rifadin has also proven useful prevention of Haemophilius influenza infection, and treatment of serious bacterial infections.
