What is pentamidine?

Pentamidine is a prescription antibiotic that prevents and treats pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) and other very serious infections caused by protozoa. The medication may also be prescribed to treat West African Trypanosomiasis (African sleeping sickness) and the parasitic disease leishmaniasis.
