What is Capastat Sulfate?

Capastat is an antimycobacterial used to treat Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, the cause of tuberculosis (TB). It is used after other anti-tuberculosis medications have been tried unsuccessfully, but is never used alone. Capreomycin is the name for the active ingredient in Capastat. It can be administered as an intravenous infusion or intramuscular injection. Usually a healthcare provider will administer Capastat injection at a hospital or clinic, however, some people learn how to administer it at home.
