Typical side effects of p-aminosalicylic acid include: stomach ache, nausea and diarrhea. The drug particles may appear undigested in your stool. Seek medical attention for rare but serious side effects, including skin rashes, yellowing of the skin or eyes (a condition called jaundice), fever, sore throat, blood in the stool or urine, pain while urinating and bruising. Call 911 for signs of an allergic reaction, including rash, hives, itching with difficulty breathing, chest tightness, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue.
