What are the side effects of primaquine?

Primaquine can cause side effects such as abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and heartburn. These symptoms should dissipate during treatment. If these symptoms continue or get worse, alert the doctor. More serious side effects can sometimes include: pale skin, headache, fatigue, fainting, dizziness, blurred vision, weak pulse, rapid heartbeat, confusion, nervousness, yellow tinged skin or eyes, blue-grey skin or lips, dark urine, shortness of breath, sore throat, cough, and fever. Seizures can sometimes occur when taking the medication.
