Common side effects of MetroCream (metronidazole) include: itching, scaling, stinging, dryness, nausea, headaches and mild burning. Other possible side effects include: cough, stuffy nose, sore throat or cold symptoms, vaginal itching or discharge and a metallic taste in your mouth. Seek immediate medical attention if you have severe burning, stinging, scaling, dryness or itching or if you experience numbness or tingling in your hands or feet. Seek immediate medical attention if you have an allergic reaction to MetroCream, characterized by hives, itching, rash, trouble breathing, tightness of the chest or swelling of the face, mouth, lips, tongue or throat.
