Does Rifadin interact with other medications?

Rifadin (rifampin) is known to increase the risk of side effects when interacting with several medications. These medications include the following:

  • Atazanavir, Draunavir, Fosamprenavir, acetaminophen, theophylline, blood thinners, 
  • clyclosporine, Phenobarbital, oral diabetes medication, diazepam and similar medications, 
  • sulfa drugs, beta-blockers, phenytoin, clofibrate, methadone, steroids, 
  • ketoconazole, heart medicines, and HIV medicines.

Also, using Rifadin with oral birth control can diminish the effectiveness of the contraception. Other medications may interact with Rifadin, you should talk to your doctor about all medications and supplements you're taking before you start on Rifadin.
