Does metronidazole injection interact with other medications or foods?

Metronidazole injection may interact with blood thinners and phenobarbital. It may also interact with phenytoin (Dilantin), disulfiram (Antabuse), lithium (Lithobid) and vitamins. Avoid alcohol while taking this drug, as the combination may result in vomiting, upset stomach, stomach cramps, sweating, headaches and flushing of the face. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or vitamins that you take, both prescription and over-the-counter, to avoid any drug interactions.
