How should I take sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine?

Follow the indications of your doctor precisely regarding your dosage of sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine. For the prevention of malaria, you should begin taking sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine combination one to two days before you are exposed, continue to take it while you are in the area with malaria and also take it for four to six weeks afterward. For the prevention of malaria, you should take one tablet every seven days. For the treatment of malaria, an adult should take two to three tablets as a single dose when you experience fever.
 
Avoid skipping doses of sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine, because if you skip a dose of this medicine or do not finish it completely, you allow the parasite to reproduce and form a resistance to the medication.
