How does sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine interact with medications or food?

Certain medications and foods, such as sulfamethoxazole, methotrexate, aurothioglucose, zidovudine, trimethoprim and lorazepam, react adversely to sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine. Before using this or any other medication, you should speak to your doctor about the risks of medication interactions.
 
Sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine may be taken with or without food. However, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water while you are using sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine combination to ensure proper absorption of this medication. While using sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine, you should not use alcohol or tobacco.
