It is important for your doctor to know about any other medications you take before you start Daraprim therapy. Make sure to mention if you are taking the drug phenytoin, as it can increase adverse side effects of Daraprim. If you take any of the following medications, you may be at a greater risk of bone marrow disorders or other complications due to Daraprim treatment: arthritis medications, such as auranofin or aurothioglucose; gold sodium thiomalate; methotrexate; other medications for malaria, such as proguanil or quinine; sulfonamides, such as sulfamethoxazole; or zidovudine. Be sure to tell your doctor if you smoke, drink alcohol or use illegal drugs, as these may also interact with Daraprim treatment. If you need to start a new medication during Daraprim treatment, consult with your doctor first.
