Does Aczone Gel interact with other medications or food?

There are no known food interactions with Aczone Gel (dapsone). Many other acne medications interfere with Aczone Gel, so talk to your doctor. The use of topical products containing benzoyl peroxide at the same time as Aczone Gel may result in temporary local yellow or orange skin discoloration. The antibiotic, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (TMP/SMX) can increase the level of dapsone in your bloodstream.  Talk with your doctor if you take certain  medications (such as rifampin, anticonvulsants, St. John's wort) as these medications may increase dapsone in your bloodstream. Also, avoid sun exposure, as skin damage will be more likely while using Aczone Gel.
